Travel diary on June 10, 2012

When I left my house, I didn't think about where to go. Anyway, I headed for Hanshin-Sannomiya via Hanshin Namba Line. After reaching Hanshin-Sannomiya, I took pictures of the platforms of Hanshin-Sannomiya, which are under improvement construction to let passengers transferring from trains come from Himeji to rapid express trains for Nara without stepping up and down stairs.

this track terminates at Sannomiya station

Near Hanshin-Sannomiya station, I went to a Chinese restaurant to have lunch. At the restaurant, I decided a way to take.
After lunch, I took Kobe Municipal Subway Yamate Line for Seishin-Chuo, a terminus of the line.

The train I took

From Seishin-Chuo, I went to Oshibedani by Shinki Bus. Because the bus runs once an hour on holidays, I was afraid that I had to wait for the bus for a long time. But, the bus came soon after my reaching a bus stop.

At Oshibedani, I walked toward Oshibedani station slowly. But, this action caused me to miss a train for Ao.
Then, I walked along the Shintetsu line to a place from which I can take good pictures of trains. Actually, I took pictures of trains.

The two letters concealed indicate "Japan National Railway", the former company of JR groups

Before arrival of the next train for Ao. I returned to Oshibedani station.
From Oshibedani station, I just take a train for Ao. I thought Shintetsu Ao Line has two characteristics. One is a suburban railway, and the other is a rural railway. Judging from frequency of trains and landscapes along the line, we can say that Shijimi is the boundary station between rural railway and suburban railway.

Near Ao

I arrived at Ao. Ao is one of the stations that have shortest names in Japan. From Ao, I took JR Kakogawa Line, which played an important role as a bypass route, when Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake disrupted transportation between Osaka and Kobe. That is why electrification of Kakogawa Line was carried out.
